Obviously

If the data we show on the graphic is not absolutely true and is just an approach, we must indicate it (we rather don't publish the graphic, but in the 'fight' with the editors we're the weak part). But sometimes, some indications are obvious.

I like checking out charts

I write on my browser Xocas.com and I find this video on Xaquin's web.

I'm not going to comment it. It's not necessary. Just 50-50% surrealist and wonderful!

Good beginning

Returning to the office can be hard, so let's start the year with some laughs. In this video (3.05 min) you can just take a look to what happens when you're working and thinking about other matters... It's in Spanish, but I think this would be a good Show Don't Tell!

Operation Chistmas

A new classic in the USA is to publish every christmas a graphic about how Santa Claus' logistics works. This time has been Wired who has offered a three-page graphic (click on the image to access the PDF), realized by Bryan Christie's studio.
Merry Christmas everybody!

Design 2.0

As Paco Oca published in his blog Maquetadores, he have a new miracle product just for 1.750 $, and you can save all the design department budget. I know some owners that I would prefer never will see this...
This product ( access to its web clicking here) promise that, anyone, with two basic ideas can design a newspaper.

I just can't believe that... It looks like a marketing campaign for InDesign creating a sort of big urban legend and then offer the real solutions with his new version... But the world is full of nuts...

New design Messiah and his ¡7! years of experience promises us taht these templates will give great design for small newspapers, doesn't matter if all have the same kind of pages.
But, we don't need it. We got this with templates from Publisher. We don't need photographers, we got banks of free images in internet. We don't need infographics artists. We got Clip Arts form Corel.

Some papers, where the really important thins is reducing costs and not getting a good product, could fall in this non-sense. Nobody with a minimum of common sense would buy it, but... you never know... I'm scared...

The silver, the discussion and the joke

This graphic was publishe on The New York Times A1 and won a silver medal on SND contest. It has beeen a great controversy. OnNAO forum there is a thread with more than 60 replies about if it deserved the prize. Some say that it deserved the medal, by it simplicity, origiality, clarity, being ran on A1... Others say just the oppositte because they think it's not original, and, despite it's a good graphic it's not silver meda worth. There is a poll, and No is winning 22-4. The graphic was called "The little graphic that could" (win gold) on this video

But the best of all this arguing (usual after all the contests) is this "answer" from Moral Volcano

Porno-graphic

This year everybody talked about it at Malofiej. Playboy Magazine, on its brazilian edition, had an entry made by Luiz Iria, Alexandre Jubran and Caio Guatelli. The topic was explaining how a roman orgy took place. No tabus, no clothes. As a graphic is not an amazing work, is just a photo collage with texts... a photo collage with photos we're not used to see at infographics Summits. As original proposal, is great. Today I found it out finally on the internet (there's no photo with naked people out of internet), take a look and make your own opinions. If you encourage people to "Show, don't tell", this graphics, above all, SHOWS
